Happy first day of summer!
Today marks summer solstice - the longest day of the year with approximately 17 hours of light. The sun will reach its highest position in the sky as seen from the north or the south pole. This year's solstice is a special one as it coincides with the Strawberry Moon - a full moon that coincides with the strawberry season. (These two events only coincide every 70 years.)
When choosing a song to recommend for today, you could go a couple of ways with this topic. You could think of songs about summer, sunshine, moons, strawberries, long days or another summery, solsticey interpretation.
So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs inspired by summer solstice do you want to hear?
Songs played
Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles
Brighter Than Sunshine - Aqualung
Hot Fun In The Summertime - Sly and the Family Stone
Hard Sun - Indio
Sunny - Bobby Hebb
Summer in the City - Lovin' Spoonful
My God Is The Sun - Queens of the Stone Age
