Coffee Break: Birds and tweets
July 15, 2016

Twitter was launched 10 years ago today.
At its launch, the service was called Twttr and described as a sort of "group send" SMS application. It initially worked by texting updates like "Cleaning my apartment" and "Hungry" to 40404, then your friends would see the message via SMS. You can see first tweets from a handful of Minnesota musicians on our Current blog.
Twitter has obviously evolved since then, and it's hard to remember the days before these little 140-character tweets entered our lives.
So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that mention birds or include tweet noises?
Songs played
Rockin' Robin - Jackson 5
Birdhouse In Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
Bird Sings Why The Caged I Know - Atmosphere
Do The Funky Chicken - Rufus Thomas
Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen
Breaking The Yearlings - Shearwater
Hummingbird - Wilco
Fly, Robin, Fly - Silver Convention
Do you deserve a Coffee Break? We at Oake & Riley think you do, and we want to bring coffee and treats from Gigi's Cafe to your workplace. In addition, we'll bring along local artist Chris Koza to perform a couple of songs for you and your coworkers. Let us know why you'd like a Coffee Break - or request your own idea for a future topic.
And if you'd like a song played just for you based on your life experience, request a song for Rx Radio.
