Lowertown is known as one of the Twin Cities' most up-and-coming areas, but Black Dog is already a neighborhood mainstay. Owners Sara, Stacy and Andy Remke have called 308 Prince Street their business's home since 1998.

Even old favorites can use freshening up, though, so the Remkes recently snapped up the former Clouds in Water Zen Center space next door and extended their restaurant, adding a whole new music stage. Tonight, they celebrate with a "Grand Re-opening Fete."

Black Dog never actually closed for the remodel, instead using their space strategically and keeping rooms open as they could. But they managed to build a scratch kitchen during the process, replacing the hodge-podge food suppliers of their olden days. Chef Joshua Wilkins (formerly of Meritage and New Orleans's Toups' Meatery) now holds down the fort.

Black Dog has long been known for their eclectic music booking, having featured performers from essentially every genre. Now, they can amplify even more artists, taking advantage of their two stages.
