American swimmer Katie Ledecky took home a gold in her 400-meter freestyle yesterday, the first gold medal for American swimmers in the Rio Olympics. Ledecky beat her own record with a time of 3:56.46, which blasted her former record of 3:58.37.
Minutes after Ledecky's gold medal race, the United States men's 4x100 relay (Caeleb Dressel, Michael Phelps, Ryan Held and Nathan Adrian) won gold. The win marks Phelps' 19th Olympic gold medal, and 23rd medal.
