Music and caffeine enthusiasts alike will be delighted to know of a new record store opening on the East Side of St. Paul tomorrow.

Caydence Records & Coffee is located in the up-and-coming restaurant district of Payne Avenue. It aims to become a creative watering hole for its artistic community, serving locally-roasted Bootstrap Coffee as well as buying/selling new and used records, CDs, and cassettes.

The building process began in May, and now, after months of hard work, owners Gregg Schmitt, Mat Graske, and Chad Medellin — music fans and former bandmates with diverse tastes — are finally ready to open their doors. The shop is located on the corner of Payne and York, only a few blocks from the popular Ward 6 restaurant and bar.

The owners have been painstakingly working on their new creative hub, doing all the remodeling and even making their own furniture for the space. There is definitely an intimate atmosphere, with several tables and a bar facing Payne Avenue through the windows.

The shop's 2,000 square feet can hold about 3,500 records and 2,500 CDs. Once you're done browsing through the eclectic selection of music, Caydence offers comfortable patio seating overlooking York Avenue. Baked goods will also be available, and the owners plan to host live performances in the future.
