Music News: Yoko Ono makes 'Simpsons' gag a reality

In a 1993 Simpsons episode, a character based on Yoko Ono walks into Moe's bar and orders a "single plum, floating in perfume, served in a man's hat." Artist Ragnar Kjartansson has created a sculpture that consists of precisely that — a single plum, floating in perfume, in a man's hat — and Ono herself has included it in a Reykjavik Art Museum exhibit she curated. Record Store Day has released the list of vinyl exclusives that will be available in stores on Black Friday. Among them: releases from Prince and the New Power Generation (a "Sexy M.F." picture disc), Jimi Hendrix (Morning Symphony Ideas), and Iggy & the Stooges (Telluric Chaos).
Polaris Heritage Prize winners announced
Each year, Polaris Heritage Prizes are awarded to classic Canadian albums from each of four time periods leading up to the Polaris Prize's 2006 establishment. This year, one winner from each period was picked by a jury, the other winner from each period was chosen by public vote. This year's winners have just been announced. The jury picked Leonard Cohen’s Songs of Leonard Cohen (1960-75), Kate & Anna McGarrigle (1976-85), Mary Margaret O'Hara’s Miss America (1986-95), and Lhasa’s La Llorona (1996-2005). The public picked Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush (1960-75), Rush’s Moving Pictures (1976-85), Blue Rodeo’s Five Days in July (1986-95), and Arcade Fire’s Funeral (1996-2005). (Billboard)

Nick Cave goes to Mars
Nick Cave and composer Warren Ellis are contributing the musical score to a TV series called Mars. The six-part educational science fiction series, which debuts Nov. 14 on the National Geographic Channel, tells the story of a crew of astronauts who go to the Red Planet in 2033. (Pitchfork)

Justin Timberlake could face up to 30 days of jail time for violating a Tennessee law against taking photos inside a polling location. Timberlake shared a selfie of himself at the ballot box while voting early, encouraging his fans to vote. As Billboard reports, "Tennessee Secretary of State spokesman Adam Ghassemi says officials are 'thrilled Justin can't stop the feeling' but reminded voters to use their phones inside polling locations only to help them vote."
More sexy elbows
Jason Narducy has announced two more episodes of his satirical video series The Sexiest Elbows in Rock. The series promotes Narcy's all-star project Split Single, which has a new album coming out Nov. 18. Among the musicians with "sexy elbows": Jeff Tweedy, Frank Black, and Sharon Van Etten.
