My Bubba perform in The Current studio

November 12, 2016
The members of the duo My Bubba — Guðbjörg Tómasdóttir, aka Bubba, and My Larsdotter — grew up in Iceland and Sweden, and in Sweden and California, respectively; they met in Denmark and are now based in New York. Larsdotter has worked as a driver of passenger trains; Bubba's grandfather was an Arctic explorer. Both feel a kinship with Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. "Bob is my father's wife's ex-husband's mother's previous lover," Larsdotter says cheekily. "Uncle Bob, we call him for short."
In town to open for Mandolin Orange at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Minn., My Bubba stopped at The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mark Wheat that's filled with witty banter and awe-inspiring music; My Bubba amuse with their quick wit and captivate with their highly crafted songs.
