Portugal. The Man 'Still' at Number 1
May 11, 2017

Only three artists this year have managed to hold on to the Number One position for more than one week: Bon Iver, The xx, and now... Portugal. The Man. They've finally divulged the release date of the new Woodstock album, June 16th, the cover of which appears to be a torched Rolls Royce, now why would they do that?! They play the big Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta this weekend before departing for the European leg of their world tour.
The highest new entry is from Sylvan Esso, who's album 'What Now' was released last week. Amelia the singer and lyricist of the North Carolina based duo, described the meaning behind every song to NPR, calling "Die Young" "a bummer of a happy pop-dirge."
Jason Isbell returns at #9 this week, with the first track released from his new "heavy rock" album cunningly entitled, Nashville Sound. Already part of the Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson roadshow this summer, which will hit Summerfest in Milwaukee, he's also ingeniously paired up with The Mountain Goats for some dates, including The Palace Theater on July 7th.
Ryan Adams is back with the second song from his Prisoner album to chart. When it was released, he sat down with NME to make a video explaining all the songs from the divorce record, after he and Mandy Moore split.
Maggie Rogers was on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday, singing another song from her debut EP. And Seth will be in town at the State Theater June 16th.
Brother Ali's new All The Beauty In This Whole Life is our Album of the Week, and he'll be part of Soundset at The State Fairgrounds May 28th, stay tuned all week for your chance to win tickets.
Alt-J released all the details of their forthcoming album this week, including the fact that the narrator for the new In Cold Blood video is none other than Iggy Pop!?
Spoon have sold out The Palace Theater Sept 15th so they've added another date the next night.
