Actual Wolf has a long history on the Minnesota music scene, so it's appropriate that Eric Pollard has teamed up with storied St. Paul label Red House Records for his new album, Faded Days. The album will be out tomorrow, June 2, as a limited-release cassette and on digital platforms, with a vinyl release in September.

We're pleased to premiere a track from the ten-song release, "Hometown." The song was written by HALEY — who shares Pollard's roots in the Duluth music scene — and was first released on her 2016 album Impossible Dream.

An Iron Range native, Pollard has recently spent time in Nashville and is now based in Oakland, Calif. According to a Red House press release, Faded Days was "written over two years in a spectrum of locations that the artist has called home at one point or another — Duluth (Minnesota, not Georgia), Brooklyn, Nashville and currently Oakland."

Musicians on the album include Jeremy Hanson (Tapes 'n Tapes, Tungsten), Jake Hanson (Gramma's Boyfriend; 12 Rods; Halloween, Alaska), Steve Garrington (Low, the Erik Berry Duo), Ditch Kurtz (a pedal steel guitarist from Nashville), with Al Church adding vocals.

With a release on Red House Records, Actual Wolf joins a label that's also been home to artists including Charlie Parr and Chastity Brown.

Actual Wolf will be at the Turf Club on June 8 for an album release show. Faded Days is now available for preorder on Amazon and iTunes. Actual Wolf has previously shared the track "Baby Please."

He performed tracks off the roots-rock record at The Current's 9th Birthday with an impressive backing band of local artists including brothers Jake (guitar) and Jeremy (drums) Hanson, Erik Koskinen — to whom the record's "vibe" is attributed — and Low's Steve Garrington.
  • Actual Wolf performs in The Current studios Eric Pollard has been playing with Low and Retribution Gospel Choir, but his new project may be of a surprise to you. As Actual Wolf, he channels the best of Bob Dylan in one respect and good ol' fashioned folk rock when a live band is employed. He's moved down to the Twin Cities this summer to routinely play gigs, and he joined us in the studio for his Local Show debut.
