Last week, I was thinking about how many bands, how many bands' albums, how many bands' careers, have either succeeded or failed because of timing? Whose careers has it helped? And whose careers have been hurt by it?

Timing is kind of everything, but the thing that makes that so elusive is that clearly no one has any control over timing. I was considered artists like Big Star, PJ Harvey, and Supergrass — acts that could have been absolutely huge, but maybe were just ahead of their time.

So I wanted to ask you: Can you think of any bands that have really either benefitted from time, or bands that really got the short end of the stick because of timing? Let me know.
