The Message, hosted by Sanni Brown and Sean McPherson, will air Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. CDT beginning October 10.

Focusing on classic hip hop and R&B, as well as new releases, The Message will keep listeners up to the minute with tour dates, music news, in-studio interviews and the best Minnesota artists working in the R&B and hip-hop scene.

"We're incredibly psyched to have Sanni and Sean collaborating on this show," said Jim McGuinn, program director at The Current. "We've wanted to have an hour devoted exclusively to all things hip-hop and R&B, and I can't think of a more exciting duo to host."

Brown is one of The Current's newest voices, having brought her talent to the launch of the Purple Current web stream in April. She has previously been heard on KMOJ-FM in Minneapolis, and has known she was meant to be in radio since she was 11 years old.

"I wanted our show to be like a radio version of Grandmaster Flash's 'The Message' in the sense that we cut through noise of celebrating the negative and redirect the light toward the positive and impactful ways that the two genres help us move forward," said Brown.

McPherson is a familiar voice on The Current, hosting Radio Free Current on Saturday night, overnight shifts and filling in on Oake & Riley in the Morning. He's an accomplished Twin Cities musician too, playing bass with Heiruspecs, and directing his solo project, the Twinkie Jiggles Broken Orchestra.
