I've always thought of Jim Lauderdale as a Nashville icon. He sounds the part. He looks the part. And he's got 31 albums under his belt, two Grammys and scores of hit songs he's written for other singers to prove it. But face to face, he's a very friendly and — dare I say it — normal guy. And I was fascinated to hear him talk about the intense pressure he feels when going into the studio to record, and about the true joy of a real songwriting collaboration.

Jim Lauderdale is on the road right now in support of his latest record, Time Flies, and he stopped in to our studio to chat about the new album and more.
