Ben Blackwell, Third Man Records co-founder and White Stripes archivist, has shared what he calls "the rarest physical release of a Jack White performance." It's a cassette from 1997, when White was working as a recording engineer with a band called 400 Pounds of Punk. During the session, White hopped on mic with the band to share lead vocals on a cover of Blondie's 1978 classic "One Way or Another." Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams named Met Gala co-chairs

From Solange's elevator take-down of Jay-Z to Elon Musk and Grimes debuting as a (short-lived) couple, there's no gala no more newsworthy than the Met Gala, in the music world and beyond. Now, two music stars have been tapped to co-chair this year's event. Lady Gaga and Harry Styles will be co-chairing next year's Met Gala along with tennis star (and Beyoncé video star) Serena Williams.

Next year's gala takes place on May 6, with the theme "Camp: Notes on Fashion," inspired by a classic Susan Sontag essay. (Billboard)

BTS to get government honor

BTS, who have broken bigger internationally than any other K-pop group, will be honored by the South Korean government. Tuesday was a national holiday celebrating the creation of the Korean writing system, and the government took the occasion to announce that BTS will be receiving a special medal to honor their work spreading Korean culture and language. Taylor Swift gets out the vote (again) at the AMAs

Taylor Swift issued another call for her fans to get out and vote, as she took the mic on Tuesday night to accept the Artist of the Year Award at the American Music Awards. Observing that the AMAs are awarded by popular vote, Swift noted, "You know what else is voted on by the people? The mid-term elections on November 6. Get out and vote." Channeling Britney Spears, Swift also summoned a snake (in this case a giant cobra) for her show-opening performance of "I Did Something Bad."

As Billboard notes, it was a night for the women. Cardi B won Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, Camila Cabello won four awards including New Artist of the Year, and Ciara teamed with Missy Elliott for a two-song medley featuring a marching band.

Maybe the night's most meme-worthy moment, though, came when Mariah Carey debuted her new single "With You," lifting her dress to reveal a full squad of dancers.

Giorgio Moroder announces first-ever live tour

At age 78, Giorgio Moroder has announced his first-ever live tour. The legendary pop producer will be "playing piano, vocoder, and synths with a live band and vocalists," reports Pitchfork. The performances will incorporate synchronized video of Donna Summer, who died in 2012.

The Italian-born Moroder is known as the "father of disco" for joining a dance beat to the electronic experimentation coming out of Germany in the early 1970s. He recruited Summer from America and collaborated with her on seminal hits like "I Feel Love" and "Love to Love You Baby." By the '80s, Moroder was already a legend, and served as a blue-chip songwriter-producer for iconic tracks like Blondie's "Call Me," Irene Cara's "Flashdance...What a Feeling," Limahl's "The NeverEnding Story," and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away."

In recent years, he was introduced to a new audience when Daft Punk incorporated his voice-over on the 2013 tribute track "Giorgio by Moroder." Since, Moroder has been touring and playing festival sets as a DJ. His live tour kicks off on April 1 in Birmingham, England, and continues through May with dates across Europe. (Pitchfork)

Watch Nile Rodgers use weird science

Another collaborator on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories was Nile Rodgers of Chic, who have just put out their first new music in decades. In a new video for the track "Sober," shot at Abbey Road Studios, Rodgers tries to discern the science of floor-filling. Singer Craig David handles lead vocals, with a rap cameo from an unseen Tefflon Don, in the song about a problem that's the opposite of that Demi Lovato faces in her song of the same name: David's paramour "only loves me when she's sober."
