Second week at the top for Brandi Carlile's "The Mother", ahead of her three State Theater Shows at the end of the month. Next month CMT will air the AmericanaFest put on by The Americana Music Association in September in Nashville, where Brandi received a Lifetime Achievement Award!
Ahead of their 2 big homecoming shows this weekend, Friday and Saturday at The Palace Theater, Hippo Campus are the highest new entry at 9. Thanks to them The Current will be live streaming the Saturday show!
Gun control has recently become a contentious issue again across the country, Nathaniel Rateliff, new at ten, became a polarizing force in his adopted home of Denver, Colorado.
American Dream was one of my albums of the year last year and Heaven 17's "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang" from 1981, one of my all time fave singles! So this cover by LCD Soundsystem, new at #13, is a match made in heaven for me.
After 9 Grammys and over 50 million album sales, Norah Jones can do what ever she wants. So no, these one off singles that she's doing with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, may never make up a whole album, so what. The first hit at 14 this week is beautifully gauzy and the next one, perfectly timed, it's called 'Wintertime'.
My old mates at The Guardian, whom I've trusted for over 40 years, have made me re-think Interpol who are new at #19. They recently gave them a glowing review for their London show at The Royal Albert Hall.
Greta Van Fleet in the basement, now have four entries in the chart this year, more than any other artist. Looch perfectly captured the angst that we have both had over this band, in her Album of the Week review.
Inducted to our Chart Show Hall of Fame, after staying on for ten weeks, for the very first time is Jade Bird with "Uh Huh". We will feature the current Top 20 of this Hall of Fame Jan 2nd 2019.
