Today in 1971, Dawn started a three-week run at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart with "Knock Three Times", the group's first No. 1, which was also a U.K. No. 1.

The song was written by L. Russell Brown and Irwin Levine, who reportedly wanted to write a song in the same vein of The Drifters' "Up on the Roof" about tenement living.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that talk about "knocking"?
