Two weeks ago, KARE 11 anchor and reporter Jana Shortal was featured in CNN's Great Big Story's documentary, "How a News Anchor Broke the Unspoken Dress Code." The video (which appears below — please do watch it if you haven't already) tells the story of how Shortal has come to embrace her authentic self on the air.

Mary Lucia visited Shortal in the KARE 11 Backyard to talk about the video, and also to compare notes, as two broadcast professionals, about being their authentic selves for their respective audiences. They also talk about the importance of the right trousers, and about a song they both love.
