The Chart Show: Minnesota Music Month Brings in Lots of Local Love

Lizzo has locked down the top spot for the third week in a row ahead of her HUGE tour kick off gig next weekend at Coachella. She's already sold out her May 5th Palace show and has TWO booked in Chicago.

Vampire Weekend are poised to be inducted next week, at #3. Last weekend while over in the U.K. they talked to the venerable Sunday Times newspaper, giving more details about Father Of The Bride out May 3rd, revealing who they will be campaigning for next year, and preparing us for "Unbearably White" one of the last two tracks to be released to the web this Thursday.

Jenny Lewis will also be inducted next week, staying at four this week after her Micro Show in The Clown Lounge last week, which we'll broadcast soon. At her Friday night Palace show where she apparently did 'a Lizzo', creating the mirror ball affect with her dress!

Dessa climbed seven places to #5 after her massive week doing two shows at Orchestra Hall WITH the MN Orchestra, recording a live album, which the Star Tribune followed the process of.

Billie Eilish jumped nine places to 6 and is predicted to be the Number One on Billboard this week! Our Music Director so rightly calls it the most anticipated release of the year so far, in his Album of the Week review.

James Blake bounces back in at fifteen after a 3 week hiatus with the track from 'Assume Form' featuring Andre 3000. Another of his collaborators who we have been playing of late is Rosalia who debuted a live version at Lollapalooza in Argentina at the weekend.

Big Thief are the highest new entry at #18 with the title track from their new album which arrives May 3rd.

Barns Courtney crashes in for the very first time at nineteen this week ahead of his big tour supporting Elle King, starting April 11th in Florida and only coming as close to us as May 13th in Omaha.

Foals canter into our basement space this week as they prepare to celebrate my birthday at First Avenue on April 30th! According to this report of the Vegas show at the weekend, it'll be a great party!

Speaking of celebrating, April is Mn Music month and we have a ton of special events planned including the Minnesota Music Coalition Summit next weekend which will involve Amanda Palmer, at 12, doing her show at O'Shaunessey April 13.
