For the past two years, we at The Current have enjoyed sharing the experience of the Iceland Airwaves music festival, broadcasting and creating videos from one of the world's coolest music fests. This year, Iceland Naturally decided to bring the Taste of Iceland to the Twin Cities from May 2 to 5, and The Current helped host this five-day experience of events that welcomed Icelandic cuisine, bartending, film, literature and — of course — music to Minnesota.

We hosted both Kælan Mikla and Mammút in our studios, and we presented a free show at The Fine Line in Minneapolis — along with locals The Bad Man, for another type of music exchange — and we also gave away a trip to one lucky winner (and their lucky friend!) to the Airwaves Festival, which happens November 6 to 9 in Reykjavik.

It was a blast to have a bit of Iceland in our midst, and to introduce two of the country's best bands to Current listeners. To the artists, listeners, and staff who took part in Taste of Iceland 2019, I must say a hearty Takk (Icelandic for "thank you")!
