The Chart Show: Record Setting Homecoming Week with Lizzo!
by Mark Wheat
October 10, 2019

Childish Gambino set the record last year for being at Number One for nine weeks. Lizzo will be inducted next week and can reach eight, a record for this year. She's playing two sold out shows at The Armory this week, tonight and Friday. Our intrepid Happy Hour DJ Jade will be at Finnegans both nights and I will start Friday's shift at 6pm with a happy hour of all Lizzo, with tracks from her whole career!
Inducted for the first time to The Chart Hall of Fame for being on for 10 weeks are The Highwomen. The supergroup which has become part of a movement more than just another band, aren't sure what's next. But they have gotten support from the families of the 'original supergroup', the Highwaymen.
Inducted five times with her band Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard is back in the HOF as a solo artist. She just sat down with NPR's Fresh Air host Terry Gross for a typically engaging interview.
Highest new entry this week is from Angel Olsen's well received new album of the same name. It's surprising people with the different sonic textures and the delivery of well constructed lyrics. But "Half Baked" by Jimmy Campbell from 1970 is the song she wishes she wrote!
Up one place to #18, Cigarettes After Sex will be in town this Sunday at First Ave, the album drops October 25 and they just put out "Falling In Love" another single from it this week.
Sophie Allison the woman behind Soccer Mommy is brand new at Nineteen this week. Last month she did a Amsterdam Bar and Hall show and came in for an entertaining interview were she revealed that...she loves Halloween!
Jeremy Nutzman is the Minneapolis based artist behind Velvet Negroni, also brand new in the basement. It might be a new name to you, but as he revealed to Andrea recently on a session for The Local Show, he is actually a scene veteran who's been involved in many collaborative projects before.
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to attend the LOCK INN at The Oxbow Hotel in Eau Claire, WI on October 28, 2019.
