Hawktail perform music from their forthcoming album live at Radio Heartland

Sometimes I get music in the mail that I hear in my headphones and it ignites my emotions. Physically, I react to music that I love with tears, sometimes shivers; I think I move my head back and forth, and I know I definitely smile. All of these reactions blossom when I listen to Hawktail's music.
Hawktail (the name derives from the initials of the band members' surnames) are exceptional instrumentalists from Nashville with years of experience in many facets of music, made up of members of Punch Brothers, Crooked Still, The Deadly Gentlemen, The Duhks and the Dave Rawlings Machine, just to name a few. They've combined their talents to explore string music with inflections of bluegrass, jazz, classical and Nordic fiddling (four of my favorite musical genres).
Hawktail were in town earlier this fall while on tour, and they dropped in to the studio to play and to chat. Their sophomore album, Formations, is coming out in January 2020, and the first couple songs of this session are from it. Did I mention that I *love* their sound? You will too. Enjoy!
