You know, we're stuck at home — everybody — and that's a good reason to watch a great documentary. My recommendation is from the PBS series American Masters, and it's called "Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool."

Now, I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know a ton about jazz. I've always been interested in Miles Davis just as a figure, because he changed so much over time. His style, his personal style, his musical style.

One thing I couldn't help but think is that, you know who Miles Davis reminds me of? Prince. Like Davis, Prince was constantly changing, there was a style evolution. They even have footage of Miles at Paisley Park.

"Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool" received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film. You can find this documentary on Netflix, on the PBS American Masters website and it is available to PBS members (The Current is not affiliated with PBS) on the PBS app under American Masters.
