The Chart Show: No Algorithms Here, Except At #1

After crashing in at #6 last week Childish Gambino jumps straight to the top this week. Probably because we're led to believe by the man himself that this is his LAST studio album! He's also announced that he will not be touring again, which is out of the question now anyway. This track was actually released during his last tour in 2018 and addresses the affects of social media.

Obviously artists who want to tour and can't right now are finding other ways to get their new music out. Nathaniel Rateliff jumps back in at Number Two with another track from his recent solo album And It's Still Alright which he was touring when the virus hit. So he went home and did a session for Rolling Stone.

The momentary bliss of being on our chart has expanded to a long drawn out sigh of ecstasy for Gorillaz as they're up nine places to three. This is only one track on what could become a never ending Song Machine producing hits across the planet in a still unique colab between real humans and animation.

Local heroes Atmosphere also climbed nine places this week, fittingly we celebrated them on Tuesday for MN Music Month. As part of this special feature you can get a free local song every day of April on the Song of Day podcast.

Inducted for the third time to our Chart Hall of Fame for staying on ten weeks is Soccer Mommy. That's the base line number of inductions to get on the All Time Hall of Fame list and there are 69 artists now.

The Guardian is one of my favorite places to read about music and they're loving our playlist right now giving good reviews to Soccer Mommy, U.S. Girls and Waxahatchee who's the highest new entry this week at #12, with more songs about getting sober.

Also up a big nine places this week is the new one form Lucinda Williams, who seems to be encouraging us in COVID isolation to go back to watching the vinyl spin on the turntable!
