Over the weekend of May 15-17, The Current hosted Sounds Like Home: a virtual festival of Minnesota music. You can find all the performances archived on The Current's Facebook page, and we're also sharing the archived sessions one by one on YouTube. Thanks to the Minnesota Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, which allowed us to compensate artists for their performances.

Stefon Alexander, known as P.O.S, is a jack of all trades. He is a self taught guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and also is the co-founder of local hip-hop collective and record label, Doomtree. P.O.S grew up playing in various punk bands, such as Cadillac Blindside and Building Better Bombs. He eventually began focusing on making hip-hop music, but punk influences are still prominent in his work. His music often includes punk elements such as heavy vocals and loud guitars, all laid over unique, futuristic beats.

P.O.S was introduced to the hip hop scene when he was only 14 years old, and started performing at various venues around Minneapolis. In 2004, He released his debut solo record, Ipecac Neat, through Doomtree Records. Since then, he put his next three solo records out on Rhymesayers, before releasing his most recent album, Chill, Dummy, on Doomtree Records again. This record was put out after he had to retreat from the music scene for a few years due to health issues. On this album, he navigates how to find peace of mind in an uncertain world, and also collaborates with a wide variety of artists, such as Kathleen Hanna, Open Mike Eagle, Lizzo, Allan Kingdom, and even his son, Hard_R. P.O.S has also been a member of various local groups, such as Marijuana Deathsquads, Shredders, Four Fists, and Minneapolis supergroup GAYNGS.

P.O.S has become a household name in Minneapolis, and has even been honored with two First Avenue stars, one for his own solo work, and one for his work in Doomtree.
