25 years ago, a chart battle went down between Blur and Oasis, dubbed "The Battle of Britpop". Blur's single "Country House" and Oasis' "Roll with It" were released on the same day, and the battle for sales was so contentious that at the time, it what was the best week for U.K. singles sales in a decade.

The band leaned into the war, growing their resentments and publicly insulting each other's music, and people compared the rivalry to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Though Blur is said to have won this battle, some claim that Oasis won the war as the more commercially successful band.

However you look at it and whichever band you prefer, the battle was a pivotal moment in the history of Britpop - a U.K.-based music and culture movement that produced brighter, catchier alternative rock and was focused primarily between the years 1993 and 1997.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what Britpop do you want to hear?

And thanks to Julie for the idea!
