(Courtesy Warner Brothers, via NPR) The city of Akron, Ohio has declared today Devo Day in support for the band's possible induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. The band formed in 1973 in Akron, and the city is going ALL OUT in support of the band, including putting up life-size cutouts of Devo and 50 different Energy Dome Sculptures inspired by the band's iconic red hats. The sculptures have QR codes where people can scan them with their phones and be taken to a website where they can vote for the band to be included in the latest round of Hall of Famers. "The City of Akron has an unbelievable sense of pride, especially when it involves the success of our people," said Mayor Horrigan. "We are, and will continue to be, immensely proud to be the home of Devo and will be rallying this great community to help them achieve the recognition they deserve."
