Discover artists Jelani Aryeh, Maple Glider and Illuminati Hotties, and get the latest from Weezer, Durand Jones and the Indications, and Minneapolis band Kiss The Tiger.

Jelani Aryeh, "From These Heights"

Nineteen-year-old musician Jelani Aryeh started with posting songs on Soundcloud of himself rapping over flat beats. His style has matured and stretched into the a mixture of beautiful vocals that are soft and sweet; to spoken word; to rapping with a daft touch.

Weezer, "I Need Some of That"

Another year, another new Weezer album. Van Weezer was supposed to come out last year — their big stadium album (see obvious nod to Van Halen) for their Hella Mega tour with Green Day and Fall Out Boy — but that tour was canceled, so the album got pushed back. Now the big tour is back on and so … "I Need Some of That."

Maple Glider, "As Tradition"

The Melbourne, Australia, artist has been appearing on more and more artists-to-watch lists, and her latest single, "As Tradition," is a gorgeous reason to start paying attention. Tori Zietsch, who performs under the moniker Maple Glider, spoke about the song. "I wrote it out of a place of defeat," she explained. "I was really heartbroken at this point, and very confused. I like the feeling of my independence and I think I was afraid of putting energy into the wrong people."

Durand Jones and the Indications, "Witchoo"

Durand Jones met the bandmates that would become the Indications in college, and their camaraderie and trust is apparent in their new album, Private Space, out July 30. The first single, "Witchoo," is a funky, spacey jam that seems to start with a nod to Marvin Gaye's "Got to Get It Up," with former bandmate Aaron Frazer (who's now a solo artist) bringing back his sweet falsetto. The band will be in Minneapolis to play the Fine Line on September 14.

Kiss The Tiger, "I Miss You"

Minnesota band Kiss The Tiger have an ever-evolving sound; they've released albums that are power pop and punk, and with their latest, Vicious Kid, they continue their exploration into Americana. The softness of "I Miss You," is enveloping and comforting. It's a sweet kind of longing that is sung with a slight fond smile. The new album is out this week.

Illuminati Hotties, "Mmmoooaaaaayaya"

This is a fresh start for Illuminati Hotties, who are releasing their "official" sophomore album on their own imprint after a whole bunch of drama went on with their former label. The sound is just as bright and freeing as the song title as you read it; frontwoman Sarah Tudzin said, "Somebody told me my music is too 'CUTE' to take seriously … So I wrote them a love letter. I hope they're laughing their patoots off."
