On this date in 1915 Blues singer and bassist Willie Dixon was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He passed away on January 29, 1992 (aged 76) in Burbank, California.

He famously once said, "Blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits." In his lifetime he wrote over 500 songs.
