Arcade Fire’s WE was written during the pandemic. The band said it was the longest uninterrupted period of writing in their history.

What they ended up with is an album split into two halves: “I” and “WE.” The first half is the “I” segment – full of anxiety, frustration, futility and loneliness.

The second half, “WE,” is the optimistic celebration of our love and togetherness. Featuring vocals of not only Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, but their son, Win’s mother Liza, as well as Peter Gabriel. Each song is a building epic, its own fable that twists and pulls and expands and retracts. There’s so many emotions covered on the ride from darkness into light with Arcade Fire’s WE.
