Music has always been a venue for artists to grapple with their own demons and trauma. It’s a safe space to share emotions that can’t and shouldn’t be buried.

Marcus Mumford was doing exactly that on a series of songs that he never expected to share with anyone. A conversation with friend Brandi Carlile convinced the Mumford and Sons frontman that the songs could resonate with others. The idea that his vulnerability could help others influenced him to share the humble-titled solo release, (self-titled).
