This week, we’ve got great new tracks from Sharon Van Etten, Jamila Woods, The Big Moon and Weyes Blood. Plus, discover the sounds of emerging artist Omar Apollo, as well as a diabolically delightful new tune for spooky season from Jeremy Messersmith.

Sharon Van Etten, “Come Back”

The deluxe edition of Sharon Van Etten’s latest album, We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong, will be out November 11. It’ll feature a couple of unreleased tracks and a few stand-alone singles that were released previously. The album was “an emotional journey” documenting the last few years.

Jamila Woods, “Boundaries”

When you get into a new relationship, it’s all heart eyes and romance, but it’s also about testing limits and negotiating needs. Jamila Woods is navigating those uneasy emotional waters on her new song “Boundaries,” working with BLVK (producer of J. Cole and Tank and the Bangas) for a jazz-infused new song to ruminate about your own relationship lines in the sand.

Jeremy Messersmith, “666”

After a four-year hiatus of cookie baking, cover songs, and live streaming, local musician Jeremy Messersmith is back with a new song. It’s a devilishly charming seasonal crooner, “666.”

Omar Apollo, “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All)”

The 25-year-old Omar Apollo has been a musical chameleon since he started making music in Indiana just a few short years ago. The Mexican-American musician sings in both Spanish and English, and he often brings his early influences into his music. A DIY musician who got his start uploading his songs to SoundCloud, Apollo is now signed and releasing a new song “Evergreen.”

The Big Moon, “Trouble”

A new child is a big life change and the driving inspiration for the new album from The Big Moon. The band’s third album is all about front woman Juliette Jackson’s pregnancy — from the results of a positive pregnancy test to sleep deprivation. It’s a loving, wide-eyed look at a huge life transition.

Weyes Blood, “Grapevine”

With a new album, And In the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, on the way in November, we are getting to hear some of the new dramatic sounds from Weyes Blood. This album will be the second in a trilogy full of the romantic swoops and soaring folk that the Pennsylvania musician is known to bring to her music.
