Sometimes you just need to say what you feel; no coy message to contextualize, just the straight-up blunt and ugly truth. On her new record Honey, Samia — as she recently shared in conversation with The Current — used to sort of write in code lot of the time, and she did that a lot less on this record.

Recorded in the North Carolina studio belonging to Sylvan Esso and partnering up with Minnesota producer and musician Caleb Bright, who co-wrote many of the songs on the album. In fact, Minnesota musicians are found all across Honey, with a feature from Papa Mbye and backing vocals from Raffaella and from Jake Luppen of Hippo Campus.
