This week, we’ve got brand-new music from Janelle Monáe, Jason Isbell, Devon Gilfillian, Lana Del Rey, and Minnesota’s Hippo Campus, as well as from emerging Cape Cod artist Tianna Esperanza. Listen to all this new music below.

Janelle Monáe, “Float” feat. Seun Kuti and Egypt 80

She's light as a feather and dancing past the haters — it's good to have Janelle Monáe back with new music. The multi-talented artist (as she says in her new song, "It's hard to look at my résumé, hoo, and not find a reason to toast") has spent much of her recent time working on her acting, but with "Float," she shows that her skills still rule the music world.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, “Death Wish”

Jason Isbell is co-Record Store Day Ambassador (alongside wife and frequent collaborator Amanda Shires), and he just announced a new album with his band the 400 Unit, Weathervanes, coming out June 9. The musician never shies away from difficult topics; he's previously written about depression, alcoholism, and death. On "Death Wish," the lyrics are a powerful lament about trying to save someone who doesn't want saving.

Tianna Esperanza, “Buy You A New Attitude”

Tianna Esperanza comes from a musical heritage of rule breakers: her grandmother is punk legend Paloma McLardy (founder of London-based punk band The Slits and later member of The Raincoats). Her speak-singing is a raspy 1920s throwback that’s part jazz and part hip hop on the song “Buy You A New Attitude.”

Hippo Campus, “Kick In The Teeth”

It's always good to share news of a local band that's doing good. Hippo Campus are back with a new EP, Wasteland, which will be out April 14. They'll be heading out on a big tour, with a sold-out show at Red Rocks already on the books. The new single, "Kick In The Teeth," is a country-inspired song; a cowboy singing about drinking and missing a loved one, it is the most straightforward love song from a band known for their sonic experimentation.

Devon Gilfillian, “All I Really Wanna Do”

The soulful singer from Nashville just wants to live in the moment on his new song “All I Really Wanna Do.” The second album from Devon Gilfillian, Love You Anyway, seems to be a joyful celebration of the here and now. Gilfillian recently said about the song, “I want people to listen to this song and forget — even for a second — the sad things going on around the world. I want them to be reminded of the beauty and joy we have around us, as long as we’re looking and open to receive."

Lana Del Rey, “A&W”

The latest from Lana Del Rey is a NSFW seven-minute meditation on growing up in the United States as a woman seen through a male gaze. Her new album, Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, will be out March 24 and continues to show that Del Rey is an uncompromising artist who makes music for herself, and that sense of self is constantly unfurling.
