First look: Uptown Theater debuts as a music venue

Now under new ownership, the Uptown Theater is now a live entertainment venue after spending more than 80 years as a movie theater.

As reported back in March, developer Ned Abdul’s Swervo Development — which also operates the Armory in downtown Minneapolis — purchased the Uptown. Live events, programmed by Live Nation, begin Saturday, June 10, with a Yam Haus performance.
