by Jill Riley
February 02, 2024

MusiCares, an organization founded by the Recording Academy in 1989, is an independent charity that helps the humans behind music. More specifically, MusiCares offers preventive, emergency, and recovery programs, providing a safety net to support the health and well-being of the music community.
Each year since 1991, MusiCares has honored a Person of the Year, selected not only for their work in music but also for their work to help others. Just ahead of this weekend’s Grammy Awards, the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year, Jon Bon Jovi, will be celebrated with a reception and concert on Friday in Los Angeles. Bon Jovi is certainly being recognized for his musical achievements, but he’s also being honored for his philanthropic work. In particular, he established the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in 2006, which is an organization that works to end the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness.
Jon Bon Jovi joins an illustrious list of MusiCares Person of the Year honorees. Let’s celebrate their music.
