The Hook and Ladder Theater & Lounge in Minneapolis hosted a night of music discovery, companionship, good food, refreshing beverages, and plenty of surprises on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Current and Voodoo Ranger’s Winter Dig Out was a feel-good party spread across the venue’s indoor and outdoor spaces.
The entertainment included Alaska-based singer-songwriter Medium Build performing with a full band. Frontman Nick Carpenter pulled out highlights of his detailed and emotionally charged catalog, including “Triple Marathon” and “In My Room.”
Nashville indie rocker Annie DiRusso’s energetic set garnered excitement for her upcoming debut full-length album, Super Pedestrian. Another Nashville star, Anderson East, brought abundant soul to his solo performance. Minneapolis surf-punk act Black Widows got the night off to a swamp rockin’ start. The Current hosts Mac Wilson and Bill DeVille kept the party moving in between sets. Meanwhile, DJ illian kept people dancing in another part of the venue.
Sponsor Voodoo Ranger provided complimentary beverages to pair with Jucy Lucys from Matt’s Bar, Indian food by Curry In a Hurry, and s’mores.
