Listen: Jasmine.4.t, Freak Slug, and more perform at SXSW Public Radio Day Stage 2025
April 09, 2025

South by Southwest began in Austin, Texas, in 1987 and has been a launching pad for artists from Hanson to Polyphonic Spree. Public radio stations around the country have been a part of shining a light on emerging artists for many of those years.
On Friday, March 14, five stations from across the country — including The Current, KUTX 98.9, The SoCal Sound 88.5, and The Bridge 90.9 — teamed up to present five emerging artists performing at the Public Radio Day Stage outside the Austin Convention Center at Brush Square Park for an afternoon of music discovery.
Featured in the program:
The multi-disciplinary artist Freak Slug from Manchester, England (“Ya Ready” “Spells” “Licorice”)
Punk and shoegaze-inspired five-piece Cardinals from Cork, Ireland (“Twist and Turn” “Unreal” “Roseland”)
Funk, soul, and psychedelia act Ali from Jakarta, Indonesia (“Pulse” “Greetings”)
Singer-songwriter Mobley from Austin, Texas (“No Exit” “Had to Be There”)
Indie rock band Jasmine.4.t from Manchester, England (“Guy Fawkes Tesco Dissociation” “Elephant”)
