Minnesota Music releases
Bob Dylan - "Masters of War" 7-inch and The Original Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
These two releases capture Dylan at the height of his social justice songwriting era, featuring songs still as relevant today as they were in the early ’60s. This special 7-inch release of “Masters of War” captures the first recording of Dylan's protest anthem, recorded in Alan Lomax's New York City apartment on New Year’s Day in 1963, with the B-side featuring a conversation between the two friends. The RSD release of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan presents his landmark second album as it was originally conceived, including four tracks that were taken off the track list shortly before the record came out, along with original never-before-seen liner notes.
Prince & The Revolution - Around the World In a Day: The Singles 7-inch Box Set
Prince’s seventh studio album celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025. Its original release was only 10 months after his landmark Grammy- and Academy Award-winning record, Purple Rain. This limited-edition RSD seven-inch box set features all four singles from Around the World In a Day – “Raspberry Beret”, “Paisley Park”, “Pop Life”, and “America” – along with an exclusive new single of the 1985 track, “4 The Tears In Your Eyes.” The audio is newly remastered by the album’s original engineer, Bernie Grundmanall. The records are pressed on distinctive colored vinyl featuring their original sleeve designs, all housed in a stylish clamshell box incorporating iconic artwork from the LP sleeve designed by Doug Henders.
Sugar - Copper Blue: The Singles Collection
Sugar recently surprised fans with a new single, “House of Dead Memories,” and a brief reunion tour. The shows are the first for Bob Mould’s post-Hüsker Dü band in over three decades. Now, Sugar offers a deep dive into their 1992 debut, Copper Blue, on four 12-inch singles. The set features the four potent original singles – “Changes,” “Helpless,” “A Good Idea,” and “If I Can’t Change Your Mind” – along with B-sides and eight live recordings from the band’s show at Cabaret Metro in Chicago on July 22, 1992, over a month before Copper Blue’s release.

Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas (60th Anniversary) Pop-Up Gatefold LP
Charlie Brown and his Peanuts gang were the creation of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, the pride of St. Paul. This year marks Peanuts’ 75th anniversary, and the 60th anniversary of the iconic A Charlie Brown Christmas animated TV special and its beloved soundtrack. A collector's vinyl edition is presented in a special pop-up gatefold sleeve featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang singing around a Christmas tree. Vince Guaraldi’s compositions on the album are cherished Christmastime family favorites due to memorable jazzy holiday standards like “Christmas Time is Here” and “Linus and Lucy.”
Joni Mitchell - Rolling Thunder Revue
In the fall of 1975, Bob Dylan launched his Rolling Thunder Revue, which toured through smaller venues in the U.S. and Canada. A rotating cast of performers joining him included Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and Joni Mitchell. Fifty years later, Mitchell is releasing an album featuring a selection of her performances from that tour, including stunning takes on “A Case of You,” “Jericho,” and Hejira classics “Coyote” and “Song For Sharon.” These recordings were previously released for the first time in 2024 as part of Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 4, though many of these live tracks are making their first appearance on vinyl.
Son Volt - Trace (30th anniversary)
Son Volt’s 1995 debut album was recorded at Salmagundi studio in Northfield, Minnesota. Following the acrimonious breakup of Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar formed a new band featuring Minnesota siblings Dave and Jim Boquist, with contributions from fellow local musicians Marc Perlman (The Jayhawks) and Dan Newton (Cafe Accordion Orchestra). According to Farrar, they chose to work at Salmagundi due to studio owner Steve McKinstry’s impressive collection of vintage mics. This special 30th anniversary two-LP release of Trace marks the album’s first vinyl pressing in more than a decade, and includes a second album featuring bonus tracks and demo versions on vinyl for the first time.
Best of the rest
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots - Live at the Zoo Amphitheatre, Oklahoma City
To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Flaming Lips played two special shows in their hometown of Oklahoma City in August of 2024. Dubbed the "Summer Freak Out," these performances featured run-throughs of their classic albums The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, with the latter show captured here in its entirety. The two-record set is pressed on yellow vinyl, and plays at 45 rpm for optimal sound quality. Frontman Wayne Coyne designed new album artwork for this special release, which features live renditions of hits like “Do You Realize?” – which was adopted as the Official Rock Song of Oklahoma from 2009 to 2013 – “Fight Test,” and the two-part title track.
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis (Rhino Reserve)
Curtis Mayfield's legendary 1970 self-titled debut album is getting an exclusive 55th anniversary pressing. This newly repackaged reissue was cut from the original master tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, and is part of Rhino's new premium audiophile line, Rhino Reserve. The record was pressed on 180-gram high-quality vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing's brand new plant in Oxnard, California. Curtis arrived shortly after Mayfield left his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted vocal group, The Impressions. This adventurous, psychedelic soul record launched the trailblazing singer/songwriter/producer’s iconic solo career that led to Mayfield’s induction into the Rock Hall on his own.
Talking Heads - Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live
This release captures Talking Heads’ nascent stages, back when founding members Chris Frantz and David Byrne were students at Rhode Island School of Design. In 1974, they made a demo recording for a band called The Artistics, which includes early versions of Talking Heads classics “Warning Sign” and “Psycho Killer.” Those songs are featured on a special 7-inch alongside an LP featuring newly discovered live material and demos recorded by bassist Tina Weymouth, Frantz, and Byrne in 1975 and 1976. According to the spare text that serves as the cover art (akin to Charli XCX’s Brat), “This compilation traces the band’s progression from raw punk minimalism to a more structured angular musical approach that reflects broader shifts in post-punk aesthetics of the late 1970s.”
Various Artists - Wicked for Good: The Soundtrack:
Wicked mania is back. The highly-anticipated movie sequel, Wicked: For Good, hit theaters on Friday, Nov. 21. The film’s soundtrack gets an exclusive vinyl release, pressed on a two-record picture disc set with winding images of the yellow brick road. The release also features alternate cover art, printed inner sleeves, and a 12-by-14-inch poster. Select shops are also offering exclusive Wicked branded Crosley turntables, which come in two varieties: a Pink Wicked Cruiser Turntable, and an Emerald Wicked Cruiser Turntable.
