Sudan Archives is the electro-R&B project of Brittney Denise Parks, who plays violin and sings over adventurous beats. The third Sudan Archives album, The BPM, was released in 2025, and the Saturday, Feb. 7, show at Fine Line in Minneapolis focused heavily on that album.
Parks’ violins basically were an extension of her, and she added tricks and flourishes throughout the night. She switched between a few different ones throughout the show, including an electric violin that resembled a flying V guitar. Parks remained engaged with the crowd, expressing her love for Minneapolis and this specific leg of the tour. Fans were invited to dance with her while she performed — before “Freakalizer,” she said she was looking for "freaks" in the crowd.
Towards the end of the show, she started an anti-ICE chant, and continued the sentiment during "KFC Santería," performed with opener Cain Culto. Parks entered the crowd during her encore, directing the crowd to open a line down the middle of the venue. A ballroom-esque walkway formed for her and other fans who wanted to participate, and it capped a show that felt like a big dance party.
