Katy Vernon's new album is 'Suit of Hearts'; the songs on the album deal with sadness and regret, but when you listen, you hear a woman also finding strength and opening doors to a brighter future. Vernon and her band recently stopped in for a session at Radio Heartland.
Eleanor Buckland, Isa Burke and Mali Obomsawin met at a fiddle camp in Maine; they continued playing together while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Together, they've formed the band Lula Wiles and are now touring in support of their album, 'What Will We Do.' Lula Wiles stopped at the Radio Heartland studio to play a session of tunes from the new record.
'Roses,' a new single from the Last Revel's forthcoming album, tackles seasonal depression from a partner's point of view. The song and its accompanying video masterfully capture the mood of an Upper Midwest winter.
Singer-songwriter Lee Henke's new song, 'Take Me To The Movies,' celebrates cinema's power to relieve mental anguish and to provide escape. The song is an early single from Henke's forthcoming album, 'Captain of the Ship,' anticipated for release in midsummer.
