Music for kids and their adults
Acoustic, Americana and Roots
Radio Heartland is a 24-hour service featuring acoustic, Americana and roots
music. Radio Heartland is available in the Twin Cities on KNOW-FM 91.1 HD2 and
worldwide on the internet.
For this year-end special, Radio Heartland's Mike Pengra rounded up one song from each live performance in chronological order and mashed them together for a program of great, live music. You'll hear from Rodney Crowell, Rose Cousins, Kris Delmhorst, David Rawlings, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, the Blind Boys of Alabama and many, many more.
Kris Delmhorst's latest album, 'The Wild,' released in September. Instead of touring solo, Delmhorst invited her husband, singer-songwriter Jeffrey Foucault, as well as a world-class band to tour in support of the album. They all stopped in to the Radio Heartland studio to play three new tracks from the album, and to give the radio debut of a new tune by Foucault.
Aaron Espe was born and raised in Roseau, Minn., but for the past six years, he's been making a living as a singer-songwriter in Nashville. Espe's latest album is 'Passages,' and after a recent Twin Cities gig, he stopped by to chat and play a few tunes in the Radio Heartland studio.
Los Angeles band The Dustbowl Revival have been promoted as a funk and soul band, but also as roots band and even as a bluegrass band. However you categorize the Dustbowl Revival, their energy is undeniable. Touring in support of their self-titled album, The Dustbowl Revival stopped in the Radio Heartland studio for a live -- and lively -- session.
