Diane’s entire life is filled with moments that prepared her to join The Current in 2021. Raised by music fanatics, her Minnesota-born father later joined the Navy and met her mother, a singer and dancer, overseas in the Philippines. Diane was born in Alaska and lived in Hawaii and Minnesota before moving to Fargo, North Dakota, as a 12-year-old. A self-proclaimed awkward, shy kid, she found solace, inspiration and joy listening to music of all styles, especially ‘90s hip-hop/R&B, classic pop singers from the ’60s and ’70s, and cult-classic indie and emo bands from the late ‘90s to early ‘00s. After graduating from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a music degree, she made a name for herself as a local musician, talent buyer, emcee, and journalist.
From high school on, Diane has followed the Minnesota music scene — and ultimately became a part of it as an avid performer, sharing bills with acclaimed artists and singing alongside names like Al Church, Haley, Tommy Stinson, Kiss the Tiger, Chastity Brown, and more.
You can catch Diane supporting the best of outstanding Minnesota artists as host of The Local Show, which runs 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Listen each week to hear legendary bands of the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s; today’s underground superstars; and everything in-between.
The Local Show is supported in part by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Listeners can follow updates from The Local Show on Facebook.
