Luke Taylor joined Minnesota Public Radio / American Public Media in 2005, initially writing promotional copy for The Current, Classical MPR, and APM programs including Marketplace and The Splendid Table, as well as writing and producing videos for such projects as MPR’s 40th anniversary and The Future of News. From 2007 to 2009, Luke was writer and host of the Grammar Grater podcast, one of MPR’s first forays into the world of podcasting. In 2012, Luke served as copyeditor of the book, A Summertime Grilling Guide from The Splendid Table, by Lynne Rossetto Kasper and Sally Swift.
In 2013, Luke moved to the digital music team, supporting programming from Classical MPR and The Current, and going 100 percent to The Current in 2016. Under The Current Presents banner, Luke has produced and hosted a number of programs, including shows spotlighting soccer songs, French artists, blues music, and sing-along rock anthems. He created The Current’s Guitar Collection series, which features interviews with artists like Brandi Carlile, Dan Wilson, Valerie June and Bob Mould. From January 2015 to February 2016, Luke served as the interim producer of The Current’s Morning Show. In August of 2017, Luke was a correspondent from the path of totality during that year’s solar eclipse, at which time he also produced a video that explored the music landmarks of Athens, Georgia. In 2019 and 2020, Luke was part of the production team of The Current’s Music News podcast. Luke continues to work on content for The Current in various forms, like the Chart Show, Today in Music History, editorial features, and the Cross Currents and Radio Heartland newsletters.
