I am an editor and writer who leads The Current’s digital content strategy, which includes the website, social media, video, and email newsletters.

I direct assignments for a team of staff and freelance contributors. I pay close attention to emerging musicians and trends in the local music ecosystem, and the vibrant concert scene in the Twin Cities. I occasionally interview musicians — finding out why AI could never create an accurate Yo La Tengo setlist — and cover live events, like the heavily hyped Geese performance at a “bar and grill” in St. Paul. Sometimes when a member of the local music community dies, I will write an obituary, like this one for photographer Brian Garrity.

Prior to working for Minnesota Public Radio, I held editorial roles at Minnesota Monthly, Bring Me the News/Go Radio, Village Voice Media (City Pages, New Times), and Triton Digital Media. My freelance writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Village Voice, Paste, Alternative Press, and Revolver. I live in northeast Minneapolis.
