This week, it's a United States of Americana Halloween spooktactular, featuring songs from Buck Owens, Tom Waits, Orville Peck, 16 Horsepower, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Cat Power, Johnny Cash and more! 

United States of Americana for Oct. 24, 2021. Bill DeVille features music from the tribute album Highway Butterfly: The Songs of Neal Casal. We also hear Dwight Yoakam, Shovels and Rope, Bedouine, Marshall Crenshaw, Jack White and more.

I featured a couple of songs from Brandi Carlile's new work, which is The Current's Album of the Week. We also checked out tunes from Pokey LaFarge, Erin Enderlin, Hayes Carll and Asleep at the Wheel on this USofA!

I featured a new batch of John Prine covers today from the album Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine, Vol 2. We checked out songs from Emmylou Harris, Margo Price, Jason Isbell and more. John would have turned 75 today.

This time we paid tribute Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, the bands leader George Frayne passed away a week ago. We also remembered Tom Petty who passed away four years ago yesterday. I played new things from Tre Burt, John Mellencamp & Bruce Springsteen & Brandi Carlile.

Played a handful of artist who won were in the winner's circle at the recent Americana Awards and Honors in Nashville. We also listened to new music from Lanue, Chris Koza, Adia Victoria and O.N.E the Duo.

This week, we remember Gram Parsons, who died on Sept. 19, 1973. We'll hear music by Parsons as well as by his band, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and from his friend Emmylou Harris.

Today was the 18th anniversary of Johnny Cash's death. We remembered the "man in black" with a few tunes. I also played new songs from Paul Carrack, Allison Ponthier, Sierra Ferrell and Joshua Ray Walker
