This time on United States of Americana I featured a bunch of the winners at the Americana Awards and Honors which were held at the Ryman in Nashville a little over a week ago. We heard tunes from Allison Russell, Brandi Carlile, Chris Isaak, Sierra Ferrell and more. We also debuted new songs from The Cactus Blossoms and Margo Price

This week on the show, I spotlight some iconic duos in Americana music as well as some new and emerging ones.

On this United States of Americana I played new songs from local artists like Jim Walsh and Dylan Hicks. I also featured new music Dead Horses, Allison Russell featuring Brandi Carlile & Sierra Ferrell. I also played a song by Elvis Perkins, which was inspired by 9/11. His mother was aboard one of the planes that crashed into Twin Towers on that tragic day.

For this USofA I featured some of the artists playing the MN State Fair this week, like The Jayhawks, Becky Kapell & Jake La Botz. I also featured a stet of song that meld reggae and country music as Summer 2022 winds down.

On this episode we remembered Justin Townes Earle, who passed away two years ago this weekend. We also celebrated the music of Kacey Musgraves, Robert Plant & John Hiatt, who all celebrated birthdays this weekend!

I featured new songs from Josh Rouse, Maren Morris, Vandoliers & Kevin Morby on this USofA. We also celebrated the 71 birthday of local legend Slim Dunlap & the 81st birthday of David Crosby with a classic from The Byrds.

I featured a bunch of the artists coming to the Twin Cities in the week to come on this USofA. We checked out The Lumineers, Angel Olson, Lord Huron & Amythyst Kiah. I also played a bunch of new music from artists like Dead Horses, Amanda Shires, Marlon WIlliams and a couple from Kelsey Waldon. Her new album is set for release on Friday.

I featured a heaping helping of new Americana on this episode. We checked out songs from Sunny Sweeney, Jake La Botz, Will Hoge & John Fullbright’s first new material in 8 years. We also listened to a classic from Joni Mitchell, fresh off of her first gig in 20 years at last weekends Newport Folk Festival!

I featured a bunch of artists who’ll be on the local stages in the week to come on this USofA. We checked out music from Becky Kapell, John Hiatt, Buddy Guy and Brandi Carlile.

I featured a bunch of acts playing shows in the Twin Cities this time. We heard John Hiatt, Josh Rouse, Lyle Lovett and Drive-By Truckers, who perform at Utepils Brewing this Wednesday.
