Happy Friday! What a week. There were a few things going on around here, I guess, including the news that I’ll be taking over the Local Show starting on January 10, 2016. (Eeee!) I also partied with some bands from Manitoba, took in an astoundingly good show from Low, had a revelatory conversation with Manchita,…

Tickets for the U.K. stops on Prince’s “Piano and a Microphone” European tour were scheduled to go on sale today at 10:00 a.m. local time (early morning in Minnesota), but they’ve been postponed with no explanation — though this morning’s tweets from Prince suggest that the cause might have something to do with concerns about…

Drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor, a longtime member of Motörhead, has died of an unspecified illness at age 61. Though Taylor wasn’t Mötorhead’s first drummer, he joined the band in time for their 1979 debut album On Parole and stayed with the band until 1984, rejoining the band from 1987 to 1992. Taylor played on many of the band’s…

Their latest album, Ones and Sixes, is full of…

In honor of the release of a trailer for Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory, Questlove tweeted a story about Prince. (Pitchfork) We knew Prince was a Nemo fan: the movie played twice during his visit last summer with Bobby Z and Andrea Swensson. . @Prince3EG once fired me from a dj gig in a nightclub & instead blasted the #FindingNemo dvd on…

I’m so excited and honored to share today’s conversation with you. My guest on the show this week is Claire Monesterio, who performs under the name Manchita. I first met Claire as a fellow audience member at a show, and quickly recognized her as an incredibly sweet, genuine, and relatable person. She’s the kind of…

November 11 is Veterans Day in the United States, a day that honors everyone who has served in the military. Also observed in other countries (often as Remembrance Day), we're thinking about musicians who have done military service. For today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear by musicians who have served in the military? Send us your requests.
