What eventually became Whitney began as an experiment to explore what was possible with a four-track tape machine. The group liked the songs they were writing to test out the machine, and the band Whitney materialized. 'We realized the band and the album we were working on was going to be good,' says drummer and singer Julien Ehrlich. Ahead of a show at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, Whitney visited The Current's studio for a session hosted by Jade.

Chris Cunningham, formerly of the duo Storyhill, is out with a new solo album called 'If You Knew All Along'. He's on the road promoting that release with touring partner Wes Kirkpatrick, a Nashville songwriter with Colorado roots. Cunningham and Kirkpatrick are trading off songs at duo gigs around Minnesota this weekend, and they took the time to bring their touring show into the Radio Heartland studio.
