In the late 1950s, Johnny Cash recorded a number of tracks translated into the German language for his label at the time, CBS Records. Although some of the tracks were released in the U.S. on a compilation in 1978, they are not widely known on this side of the Atlantic. 'Johnny Cash makes German sound a bit more musical, and it sounds perfectly natural coming out of his mouth,' says The Current's Bill DeVille.
