Ahead of their big MN Music-on-a-Stick gig at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand this Saturday, Aug. 30, Doomtree members are stopping by the MPR booth at the Great Minnesota Get-Together all week. Sims played a stellar set on Monday, Mike Mictlan takes the stage today and P.O.S. will play his first solo set on Thursday since undergoing a successful kidney transplant in March.

Yesterday Dessa performed a few tracks off her two most recent records with longtime friend and collaborator Aby Wolf. Between songs, Dessa chatted with Mary Lucia about what her Doomtree cohorts bring to the table. Here's what we learned: Sims has the best hair, Mike Mictlan is a dancer in a rapper's body, Cecil Otter has the best brain above a 5 o'clock shadow and below a fedora, and P.O.S. isn't about wearing sleeves — he's a vest guy.

After the performance, Dessa accepted The Current's Program Director Jim McGuinn's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (who accepted the challenge from Jeremy Messersmith). See how Dessa's #ALSIceBucketChallenge went down by looking at the photos and social media below.

Songs Performed

"The Chaconne" is off Dessa's sophomore LP, Castor, the Twin. "Call off Your Ghost" and "Skeleton Key" are off her latest record, Parts of Speech, out now on Doomtree Records.
