Theft of the Dial®

Every once in a while, The Current has the opportunity to bring in someone who we admire and respect enough to hand over control of the airwaves to them. Welcome to Theft of the Dial -- where you get to hear some of your (and our) heroes take over 89.3 The Current, play some of the music they love, and talk about why they chose it.

Theft of the Dial: Kristen Schaal

Kristen Schaal

You may know Kristen Schaal from her role on Flight of the Conchords, her stint as a Daily Show contributor, or her recurring appearances on 30 Rock, Bob's Burgers and Gravity Falls. It turns out she's something of a musichead, too—while in town for Wits recently, Schaal stopped by The Current studio to chat with the Morning Show and take over airwaves to play a handful of her favorite songs.

Theft of the Dial: Jeff Tweedy

Jeff Tweedy

Frontman of the wildly successful band Wilco, Jeff Tweedy has been with the group since their inception in 1994, helping to pen some of indie music's most iconic albums such as Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and their latest, The Whole Love. Tweedy dropped by the station to record another Theft of the Dial with Jill Riley.

Theft of the Dial: Mayor R.T. Rybak

RT Rybak and Steve Seel

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, due to wrap up his third and final term at the end of this year, has become a widely beloved figure. When he stopped by The Current studio to take over our airwaves, it wasn't the first time he's shown love to the station, but it was perhaps the most fun and in-depth opportunity we've had to get him involved in what we do here at The Current

Theft of the Dial: Paula Poundstone

Paula Poundstone

While she was in town for Wits™, The Current Morning Show was happy to welcome Paula Poundstone into our studio to chat with the hosts and take over our airwaves for a little bit, playing some of her favorite tunes for another edition of Theft of the Dial.
