The Local Show for December 5, 2010
December 05, 2010
On this week's edition of The Local Show, host David Campbell took a good look at the 2nd volume of The Minnesota Beatle Project - a compilation of local artists who recorded their own versions of Beatles songs. Mark and Tim of Vega Productions, the folks behind the MN Beatle Project, stopped by to preview songs from this year's edition and share some of the sweet success stories of the money raised for music and arts programs in MN public schools from the sales of last year's edition. In the second hour, the band Pert Near Sandstone stopped by The Current studios. They performed "I am the Walrus", which was their contribution to the Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2, as well as a few other tunes from The Beatles songbook. Plus music from Doomtree, Charlie Parr, Dark Dark Dark, and new music from Estate, BNLX, Hastings 3000, Fragile, and a collaboration between Grant Cutler and Jeremy Messersmith.
